Arbour Valley Communities has completed the installation of a large-scale solar array and power generating system at its Arbours at Crown Point 240-unit apartment complex in Ocoee, Florida. Chris Maingot, principal of Universal Solar, Arbour Valley’s solar contractor, commented, “We have installed many solar power generating systems, but we only rarely see it done at multifamily apartment complexes. Arbour Valley had the foresight and wherewithal to incorporate this system onto garage rooftops that would otherwise have been unproductive surfaces – saving the property a lot of money and at the same time benefitting the environment.”
With the system now operational, Arbours at Crown Point is generating an average nearly 8000 kilowatt-hours per month, which if not fully used, can be fed back into the electrical grid. The system is also saving more than 5000 kilograms of CO2 emissions per month, and is a source of pride for the community’s residents, management, ownership, and local government.
